The lower school, consisting of years 5 and 6, forms the crucial foundation for adapting to the new type of school. In these two years, pupils are given the opportunity to actively try things out and make a smooth transition to the new school environment and the new subject areas. As the comprehensive school offers all school-leaving qualifications, the focus for pupils at this stage is not yet on deciding on a specific school-leaving qualification. Instead, they can test their skills extensively and possibly even tackle a second foreign language.
In addition to the content aspects of the subject lessons, special attention is paid to the development of learning strategies during the lower school years. Intensifying independent engagement with a subject is essential in order to be able to promote individual skills in a targeted manner. This aspect is trained particularly intensively in the lower school.
Another central focus in the lower school is on learning social skills. Teamwork is actively practiced in order to enable students to cooperate effectively with others in their further school career and to benefit from mutual exchange.
