Natural Sciences
Science is taught in Years 5 and 6 at Gronau Comprehensive School. This subject is a combination of the 3 natural science subjects biology, chemistry and physics, with the focus in years 5 and 6 being on biology and physics.
The aim of the subject is to enable pupils to question, explore and explain phenomena from everyday life, the environment and their own bodies. For this reason, the lessons are very much geared towards pupils working practically, experimenting and then being able to explain their findings. Pupils also learn to understand the language and history of science, to communicate their findings and to deal with the limits of science[1]. In this way, the subject of science makes a significant contribution to the language development and judgment skills of adolescents in addition to teaching subject-specific content.
