The morning began with a variety of projects on topics relating to the European Union and the European continent, which took place in the school building or as excursions. For example, the entire Year 5 went on an excursion to the Netherlands. There, our pupils explored our neighboring municipality of Enschede by means of a city rally. Year 6, on the other hand, followed in Caesar's footsteps and explored the cultural heritage of the Romans in Europe, while in Year 7,the train"took off" as the pupils played an escape room game and puzzled their way through the Orient Express. In Year 9, hard-working hands swung the mixing spoons to feed our school community with delicious pancakes and waffles.
For us at Gronau Comprehensive School, European work also means a wide range of exchanges and cooperation with our parents. The many culinary contributions from parents contributed to a successful celebration in the afternoon. Together with parents, pupils and the teaching staff, a peaceful and international celebration was held in the schoolyard in the spirit of the European idea.
But not only the palate was spoiled, but also the school band and numerous hands-on activities contributed to a successful celebration that will be continued next year. We would like to thank all those involved, without whose commitment it would not have been possible to have a living Europe Day at the comprehensive school. In this context, we would also like to thank the Gronau Comprehensive School Support Association for their great financial support.
