Visit of the Dutch partner school from Glanerbrug

The exchange took place over the course of the morning with the aim of an intercultural exchange and the realization of authentic language contacts in the target language, Dutch. The pupils were intensively prepared for this in class to ensure that communication was successful.

The exchange began with a speed dating session, during which the pupils from both schools were able to get to know each other better and, after some initial difficulties, chatted effectively. The pupils then explored the comprehensive school in groups of four on a guided tour. The pupils of the comprehensive school were able to proudly present their school - completely in the target language of Dutch! The pupils were curious and enthusiastic about the aspects of their school that are not available in this form, such as a fitness park or the large sports field. The accompanying teachers, Ms. Kosbab and Ms. Sikma, helped out with minor language difficulties, but quickly realized that the pupils know how to help themselves if they don't know a word.

After a short breakfast break, things got turbulent again: the so-called chaos game provided movement, fun and supported the language-promoting character of the exchange. With the help of many small tasks, the pupils gained further experience in the use of the target language and also made new contacts.

The conclusion of the pupils was clear: it was fun to actively use the language and make new friends! Marcel Spitshuis, a teacher at the partner school "De Troubadour", was also delighted with the pupils' performance. All in all, everyone agrees that contacts in the target language support the learning of a new language immensely and motivate the pupils in their language acquisition process.
