Exchange with sustainability

As part of the short-term project, our students traveled to Münster, where they met up with their Dutch exchange partners. In small mixed groups, the young people worked on tasks focusing on sustainability in the fashion industry. They dealt intensively with production conditions, consumer behavior and environmentally friendly alternatives. The results of their work were then presented at the House of the Netherlands. The project was supervised on site by students of Dutch Studies at the University of Münster. The project was rounded off with a culinary visit to the Christmas market.

By integrating language learning into a topical social issue, the excursion not only provided new professional impetus, but also promoted intercultural understanding on both sides. The project "Duurzaam(heid) leren met je buren - Learning sustainability with your neighbor" was made possible by the Interreg program Germany-Nederland and its program partners and co-financed by the European Union (EU).

In addition to the existing cooperation with the Basisschool De Troubadour in Glanerbrug, the project has gained another committed partner for the Gronau comprehensive school in the form of the Stedelijk Lyceum Enschede Zuid.

This intercultural interaction offers our multicultural student body a further opportunity to make friends and broaden their own cultural horizons. It is a lively network of German-Dutch contacts that has brought many members of our school community closer to the European idea in an authentic way and should continue to do so in the future. We can therefore look forward to further "sustainable" projects and encounters.
