The redesigned outdoor facilities of the comprehensive school were implemented between sports hall 1 and the existing school building on an area of around 2,465 m². The aim was to make the schoolyard more modern and functional. The following measures were implemented:

  • Multifunctional playing field: Pupils can play soccer and basketball on 560 m².
  • Sustainable drainage: Water-permeable paving and two infiltration troughs with a total area of 230 m² ensure an innovative drainage concept.
  • Further facilities: New bicycle parking spaces, additional seating and new sports equipment round off the offer.

The construction work, which began in July 2024, was completed in mid-November 2024. The costs for the project amounted to around 570,000 euros.

Since its foundation in 2014, Gronau Comprehensive School has established itself as an integral part of the school landscape. It enables longer joint learning, offers all school qualifications and celebrated its first Abitur in 2023. The celebratory week for the 10th anniversary includes a varied program:

  • Discussion on November 26: "10 years of comprehensive school - a model for success?" Citizens, parents, politicians and pupils from the upper school will be discussing from 4 pm.
  • Open Day on November 29: Primary school pupils in year 4 and their parents and guardians can get to know the school and find out about the educational opportunities on offer.
