Hungary exchange

Hungarian exchange in Budapest and Mezöberény

On Sunday, 17 students from grades 9-Q2 and three teachers set off for Budapest to meet the Hungarian group on Monday. The group was accompanied by Otto Lohle and Thomas Herden, who had arranged the exchange in advance. Erasmus +, the German-Hungarian Association and the Friends of the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium made the meeting possible through their generous financial support.

Under the theme of ecology and sustainability, the students from both schools took a close look at Budapest and later Mezöbereny. The question of the energy supply of the metropolis was just as important as the water supply or the animal husbandry in the Budapest Zoo. Of course, the most important sights of the city were also visited. Evening get-togethers with games and karaoke rounded off the meeting of the students from both schools in an atmospheric way.

On Wednesday, a visit to the Planet exhibition completed the program before heading to the town of Mezöberény, two and a half hours away.

In addition to accommodation in host families, the visit to the partner school was also on the program there. The visit to local sights and the visit to the German house and finally the reception in the town hall by the mayor of the city, were the central points of the program.

At noon on Friday, the group began its journey home, which ended at midnight at Düsseldorf Airport.

All participants were able to gather many impressions in a very short time and hope that, after a four-year break, contact between the two schools will once again be maintained more intensively and regularly. For this purpose, further ideas on different levels of cooperation have been discussed, which now need to be implemented in the follow-up.
