We visited the Westmünsterland waste disposal company in Gescher. There we first learned a lot about correct waste separation. We then had to put our knowledge to the test and sort some waste into the correct garbage cans. We then toured the site. There were lots of garbage collection vehicles on the road and people who wanted to unload something at the building yard. We were even able to watch a refuse truck unload all the garbage. Then we made paper. To do this, we tore up old newspapers and colored paper, mashed them into a pulp and worked with scooping frames. Each of us now has a colorful, recycled sheet of paper.

On Wednesday, many pupils gathered in the gym to watch some third graders perform a rubber twist. Classes 3a and 3b had rehearsed various choreographies with our teacher trainee in PE lessons.

Tomtine is in our class this year

Ms. Sicking was in every class this week and talked a lot about teeth and dental health. Afterwards, we went to a prepared room. There, everyone was able to test their knowledge at various craft and game stations.

In October 2025, we held a reading evening at the school. We met at the big school gate at 6.00 pm. Everyone had cozy clothes on and cuddly blankets with them. First, Ms. Gerdes, Ms. Duesmann and Ms. Holtmann read us stories by Astrid Lindgren before we made ourselves comfortable in our reading caves. Finally, we all enjoyed a delicious pizza.

Today we cleaned the potatoes we harvested yesterday and then cooked them. We then ate the jacket potatoes with delicious apple sauce and herb dip. It was really tasty.

Today we made up for the excursion we missed in second grade: We walked to the Meyer family's potato field. Once there, we first learned a lot about potatoes and how they are grown. We were also able to discover many different varieties in the soil. Then we were allowed to take a close look at the large harvesting machine and even climb on it once. Each and every one of us harvested a bag full of potatoes. Tomorrow we will cook delicious jacket potatoes and enjoy them with apple sauce and herb dip.
