Farewell from the OGS

For nine children, it is time to say goodbye, as they will not be returning to OGS after the summer vacations.
At a small celebration with homemade cake and cold drinks, the children talked about the past and the future.
Everyone is sad that their time at OGS is over, but they are also looking forward to the new chapter ahead.
When asked what the best thing about OGS was, the children replied: "Everything!"
Of course, we are very happy about that.
At the end of the celebration, each child received a goodbye bag.

Visit to the research gallery

Twelve children from our OGS were able to tinker, experiment, tinker and research.
In the Forschergalerie in Epe, there are a variety of professional tests and experiments on various topics such as technology, acoustics, colors, sizes and quantities.
The children had around two hours to try everything out on their own.
Everyone was enthusiastic and took away a lot of new knowledge.
We can also visit the Forschergalerie next school year, which we are already looking forward to!

Pirates conquer the creative space

Anne Gerwens and Anneke Stein had to admit defeat... the pirates have conquered the creative room!

First, pirate scarves and eye patches were made and sewn in the handicraft workshop, followed by painting on the theme of "pirates".

This activity was also really well received by the children outside of carnival and will soon be repeated for another group.

OGS excursion

We were able to go on our excursion to the nearby playground in beautiful summer weather.
Beforehand, all the children enjoyed a picnic on the "cherry meadow".
Finally, everyone was able to explore the school's small forest.
It was a lovely afternoon!

Reading tree completely filled - ice cream parlor, here we come

Our OGS children managed to "read" 150 reading units by the day before the Easter vacations!
We had actually expected this incredibly great result for the summer vacations!
We are all proud of this achievement!
The promised surprise was a visit to the ice cream parlor!

Nice weather at last

With spring-like temperatures, we were finally able to use our outdoor area again with all the OGS children!
On one day, we offered various games such as egg running, catching or jumping in the long rope.
The next day, the big sandpit was "the hit"!
Here we dug, built and baked for all we were worth!
Everyone had great fun and the atmosphere was great!
We are already looking forward to many more sunny days...

New reading project in the OGS

Our children can read a great surprise in a joint project.
The 150 colorful leaves of the reading tree must all have a name by the summer vacations.
This means that each child must read three times with a supervisor. In this way, we want to improve reading skills and further increase the good group feeling.
The children are so motivated that the surprise may even be redeemed before the Easter vacations! 🤗

Merry Christmas 🎄!

After a wonderful Advent season with an Advent calendar and drinking coffee together with parents, grandparents and friends of our OGS children, we would like to say goodbye to the vacations.

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas ✨, a Happy New Year and all the best for the New Year.

New OGS helpers elected

In a secret ballot, each year group of OGS children was able to elect one or two OGS helpers for the first half of the school year.

The OGS helpers are involved in the planning of festivities such as the Christmas party and always have an open ear for our children.
They also help plan the OGS Council, our democratic children's parliament, from time to time.
It's great that you support the team and the children - thank you very much for your commitment!

Halloween at the OGS 🎃

In keeping with Halloween, the creative workshop with Anne Gerwens was busy crafting again. Here all the children are happily holding their spider's web canvas up to the camera!

First aid course successfully completed

All the children who took part in the first aid course with Britta Günther from "Erste Hilfe Mensch & Hund" in Epe are proudly holding their certificates in their hands.
Britta once again passed on a lot of knowledge in a clear way and the children were able to try out and apply a lot of things in practice - as you can see very clearly in the photo!

OGS rules have been revised

As a separate project, the second-year children redesigned our OGS rules.
There is a photo for each simply worded rule so that children who are just learning to read are also aware of them.

Thank you to Lina and the second-year OGS children for doing this project and explaining it so well to the whole OGS 💪!

Research group under new management

After Mareen Tillmann moved on to her year of recognition as an educator, Tobias Bürger took over the "Haus der kleinen Forscher" (Little Scientists' House) working group this school year.
Initially, the children can get a taste of the program, but after the autumn vacations this working group will start with a permanent group.
We would like to thank Tobias Bürger for his voluntary work for our OGS.

OGS Olympics

Our OGS Olympics kicked off on the large school playground in beautiful summer weather.
Four mixed teams had a lot of fun with egg races, water scooping, tennis ball competitions and simply "being outside together".

"A warm welcome" to our new OGS children

We welcomed our new children with warm wishes.
Each new child has been assigned a godparent to help with any questions or problems.

As a symbol that everyone is very welcome, the godparents made a beautiful heart ❤️ for their respective godchild.
